Mouthguards
We fabricate custom made mouthguards to fit the teeth. Vital for anyone involved in a contact sport (and in some cases compulsory).
We offer a wide range of selection of colours and they can be charged on rebate.
Cleaning & Prevention
The mouth is a dynamic environment and complete care of gums and teeth are important for a holistic approach to good health and good teeth.
We take this philosophy throughout all our treatment plans and during examinations we can also offer cleaning services if recommended. Our examinations check all teeth, all existing fillings and any other dental conditions you may have. We also have fantastic digital x-ray facilities to assist in comprehensive diagnosis.
Oral Cancer Screening
Oral cancers can often go undetected. If you're concerned about any oral lesions we can assist you with identification and recommend appropriate courses of action. We offer oral cancer screening of the mouth as part of our routine exams and check ups.
Fissure Sealants
Fissures are the grooves in your teeth and can be a catching point for bacteria and food. This makes them at incredibly high risk for developing dental decay. Fissure sealants are made of a flowable smooth plastic-like material which covers these grooves and are almost undetectable. They greatly reduce the risk of decay in these areas and are a fantastic preventative option, especially for children.
Root Canal Therapy
Your teeth are actually living structures and have a blood supply and nerve supply running through the middle of the roots. These channels are called root canals and when infection gets into this area it can result in severe tooth ache.
Root Canal Therapy aims to remove any infected nerves and tissue from the canals and clean it out to remove the infection and remove the pain. This 'hollow' tooth is then filled with a filling material so that you can keep your tooth instead of simply removing it.
Gum Treatment
Your gums are incredibly vital for your teeth and overall oral health and it is important to treat them with as much attention as the teeth themselves. Without a good foundation under a building, it will fall down and collapse. The same concept applies to your teeth. Without good gums and supporting structures, the teeth will lose their integrity.
With improper cleaning conditions can occur, such as gingivitis and periodontitis. We offer treatment for these conditions and can go through them with you during your treatment planning.
Dentures
Dentures are the most common alternative to missing teeth.
At Bluewaters Dental Care we fabricate full and partial dentures to suit your needs and your budget.
Partial dentures can fill in the gaps created by several missing teeth. We offer partial dentures in acrylic or chrome colbalt.
Full dentures are usually made when all teeth are missing and there are 3 main types we offer, varying based on the various indicators.
- Convectional dentures can be manufactured in about 4-6 weeks and given to you later.
- Immediate dentures are made in advance and are given on the same day you lose any of your older teeth.
- Implant supported dentures are made when implants are used to replace the missing teeth.
Air Abrasion
Air abrasion is an alternative to use of needle or drill for small fillings.
It follows a paradigm in dentistry known as 'minimal intervention'. Where the primary goal is to retain as much healthy tooth structure as possible.
This technique is commonly used for fissure sealants (See above), or filling deep fissures and groves to prevent early decay in chewing teeth.
Instead of using a drill, the air abrades the surface and removes bacteria and infection from the surface of the tooth without causing too much damage to the tooth.
White Composite Resin Fillings
The most commonly used material for simple fillings, this material looks similar to tooth and has many properties similar to tooth.
Glass Ionomer Fillings (GIC)
GIC are not strong as compared to white fillings however, they can contain and store fluoride which slowly releases over the duration of the filling's life.
This makes them an ideal filling material for children's teeth, temporary fillings or even as a base under permanent fillings.
Amalgam Free Fillings
Amalgam (silver fillings) have been used in dentistry for decades and at Bluewaters Dental Care we can offer professional advice on the advantages and disadvantages of these kinds of fillings.
We offer our clients the time to discuss their options regarding these fillings and the considerations when it comes to removal and replacement.
